I was looking for an easier way to customize the forums so members could see which threads are public and turned to ProBoards Plugins Library. While browsing through them, I found several that I figured members would love having the use of. The following list includes what was installed and a brief description. I will also provide instructions for those that require them in subsequent posts to this thread:
Images in Thread Titles || This is what I used to create and add REF images to the beginning of thread titles on the References boards. See the related post below for more information and instructions on using this feature.
Category-Info Center Images || This is for Admin's use, but I'm not sure if I'm going to use it. It would allow me to create custom bars with images for the different category boards.
Custom Thread Titles || Another plugin for Admin's use that allowed me to change the fonts and colors of the threads on the Announcements and public boards.
Tabbed Sections in Post || This will come in handy for those who have a lot of helpful information to share. Rather than having one long, drawn-out post, the information can be split into tabbed sections directly within the post. I'll find one of my wordy help posts later and format it using this feature.
A good candidate is my Places to Market Your Stores & Products thread on the References > Marketing Tools & Services board with the numerous links to places where we can advertise our shops. I could separate them into tabs such as free sites, paid sites, directories, etc.
Personal Smileys || I have a feeling everyone's going to love this feature because it allows you to upload your own smileys via your profile that you can choose from in the smileys drop-down menu when creating posts. See the post below for more information and instructions on using this feature.
Quote Highlighted Text || Another feature I think everyone is going to love because it allows you to simply highlight text within someone's post that you want to quote. This will save you from having to edit what's included in the quote. Again, for more information and instructions, see the post below regarding this feature.
Smiley Dropdown || Not sure if I'm going to keep this one since it reduces the size of the Quick Reply box. The only thing it saves us from is having to click on the smiley face in the toolbar at the top of our reply box.
Quick Reply BBCode Buttons || Yet another handy feature as we won't need to hit the Reply button at the top-right of the Reply box in order to have access to some of the toolbar features. I can customize what's available, but haven't decided if I should include all of the toolbar buttons or just a select few. Once I've had a chance to check out this feature, I'll post about it below because I'm not sure if it's limited to certain buttons or not.
Mini-Profile BG and Text Color || Not sure if this one is going to work for our forums since I don't have access to the area where I need to customize these settings. It would allow us to customize our mini-profiles (what you see at the left of every post) with preset background images as well as background colors and fonts.
I would need to be able to create custom profile fields in order to make this happen, but my admin settings don't show the link to that area. I'll check it out later under the main Admin account to see if it's visible there, but it SHOULD be visible under my PurpleIris account, too, if it's available.
Anywho, that covers all of the new features I added this morning. I have other things I need to work on today, so please bear with me if I don't get instructions posted right away. At least a couple/few of them should be pretty easy to figure out on your own, anyway.
