THREAD ON THE CAFE CLASSIFIEDS BOARD
Established members* are free to post their product listings and discounted offers within their shop's own thread on the Cafe Classifieds board. You can post as many items as you like, but please remove any dead links. If an item sells, but the link still lands in your shop, then it's not that big of a deal unless you're concerned with disappointing a shopper by linking to something that is no longer available.
However, I truly believe that it would be more beneficial to your business if you keep up with advertising products that are available. Plus, if a link leads to nowhere or an automated generic page, it can result in the forum site and our individual promotional efforts losing their search ranking.
When promoting multiple products, please include each product's main image only. You can also promote an entire category with images of a few of its products, linking to the category rather than an individual listing. If you're promoting a single item within a post, then you can include as many of its images as you like.
For SEO purposes, it's best to make each image a clickable link to the product listing or category, using its title for the ALT image text. If you need help making your images clickable, refer to the How to Post Images in Forum Posts article. If that doesn't help, then give Nicole a shout via PM.
If you would like to use a table to display your products, you can find easy instructions for doing so in my How to Create a Table in Posts article. If you're having problems with a table, Nicole can edit/create/fix it for you directly within your post, so just give her a shout.
We want everyone's items to be seen in search engines so sellers have a better chance of actually selling their items. So, again, it would be greatly appreciated if you could keep your promotional posts tidy. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them below or send Nicole a PM.
*Established members are those who have logged in and posted to the boards once a month for three consecutive months.
**Search bots don't like spammy descriptions, so management is free to edit anything perceived to be spammy.
