Everyone knows it's a pain to start from scratch on a new selling site and anything to help speed up the process is grateful.
Since I don't use / or / know how to do the "cvs" file: that's out for me.
I remember reading that by copy/paste information to another site carries the former site's "data lingo", and it's better to copy/paste to "notebook" where this "data lingo" is eliminated and then copy/paste from the notebook to the new site.
I know that I did the notebook copy/paste, but also I did copy/paste from site to site (especially trying to get off Tictail changes) but I don't know which of my listings are done which way.
So... . ….. …. ..
? Should I go to each body of my listings and from the top enter a few returns for spacing from the old text, then go to the top and type in the text (using the old text for reference while typing) and then erase the old text ?
? Will this get rid of the "data lingo" from the other sites gone ? (and not loose links to Pinterest or ranking in google search)
OR
? Should I just start completely with new listings and delete the old ?
What do you think or any suggestions would be great.
I need to know how much of a project I am looking at when I am looking at the 4 shops.

Before I set up my new Wix site, I saved all of the Tictail descriptions to my desktop. I started with a completely new format at Wix and just plugged in relevant info from my saved descriptions. I also reworked all of my photos. I guess you could say I basically started over.
It is going to be a long process to get back to the level I was at on Tictail. Nevertheless, I have just decided to be patient and figure that adding new items on a frequent basis might bring more attention to the new site.
BTW, I deleted all of my old Pinterest boards that had old links to Tictail. I have been repining as I go to new boards.

LOL It would be much faster to simply copy the description to Notepad, then copy it from there back to the listing. Before pasting it, hit Ctrl-A to select the existing description. Then hit Ctrl-V to paste it -- or right-click your mouse to select paste. This will ensure that any coding is removed. While you're at it, you might tweak your descriptions a bit to give the search bots a bit of fresh info to seek out.

I was planning on looking at updating the listings while doing this for new updates for the search engines

If you are on etsy, you do not have to worry about HTML being carried over. It is plain text. I'm not sure about ecrater. What do you think PickyChicky

Which shop did you say you're doing this for, @catcop? If either of those, I wouldn't worry about it. Any other platform I wouldn't know.

When I had started the eCrater shops, I was pulling from Tictail and eBay. I don't think there was anything from Bonanza, but not really sure on that one.

As long as you're copying things into plain text fields, like on eCrater and Etsy, it doesn't matter where you're copying from because none of the code will be added.
