Posting an image in a forum post is super easy. You just have to use images that are hosted elsewhere online. There are several places that host images, but Photobucket and Picasa are the only two I can remember the names of at the moment. I personally use Photobucket, which is free, because I find it easier to use and have never had any problems with it. Any image you have uploaded to your image hosting account can be posted here -- as long as it's not offensive and is suited for a professional site, of course. LOL To insert an image into a post, simply follow these easy instructions: Inserting an Image- When creating a post, click on the Reply button at the top right of the posting area to get to the WYSIWYG editor with the formatting toolbar at the top. If starting a new thread, you should already see the WYSIWYG editor.
- Go to your hosted photo album and copy the Direct URL for the image you want. In Photobucket, this is provided in the list of codes below the image. Not sure about Picasa and others.
- Return to your post and click the Insert Image icon on the toolbar (the 6th from the right).
- Paste the HTML in the first box provided in the dialog box.
- You can enter alternate text in the second box, which is what will be displayed when someone hovers over it.
- Click the Insert Image button and voila! You're done!
Making an Image a Clickable Link- Click on the image so that a thin lined box appears around it.
- Click the Link icon on the toolbar (the 8th from the right).
- Enter the URL you wish to link to in the second box provided in the dialog box, leaving the word "Link" in the first box untouched as any other text you enter will replace your image.
- Click the Create Link button and you should now have an image with a clickable link.
If you have any trouble with the above, feel free to ask for help.

PickyChickyWhen I post the pictures of my kitties here, I still have an account with Bonanza and I upload the pictures in an "Unfinished Listing". Then I copy the URL. The listing title I have the date and how many of the pictures I use. Eventually, they get deleted. I use this while hosting the WFC on Bonanza. My game prize pictures are done like this. I refuse to open more accounts to do minor things like hosting pictures.

The image I posted above (now deleted since my testing is done) is actually being pulled directly from eCrater's servers. I just manually attached the listing URL to the image so it leads back to the listing. It was a roundabout manner of doing it, using Firefox's "Inspect Element" feature (accessed by right-clicking on the zoomed version of the image) to get the image's actual location since it's not provided directly on the listing and the "View Image Info" option was not available via Firefox (probably blocked by eCrater). While it obviously does work, I just asked eCrater if that is allowed since it's putting extra "strain" on eCrater's servers from an outside source, so am still awaiting their answer. I also just posted a request for recommendations of free image-hosting sites on ProBoard's support forum, so am waiting to see if anyone has any.
As mentioned elsewhere, there is a self-hosting tool available for us, but I need to see what the forum's storage limits are and how much extra it would cost to increase it, if necessary. If we can use that, then we can upload images directly from our computers to the forums.
So let me go check on that info real quick now that I know where to find it thanks to the one person who's responded to my query so far...

UPDATE: I cannot get the self-hosting option to work easily when trying to make the image a clickable link to the listing. I'm only getting it to work by roundabout methods that require too many steps and messing with code, which is something I know others will have difficulty following instructions for.
It's not something we should have to do to begin with. So I've requested assistance on the support forum to see if there's an easier way to do this without having to rely on a third-party hosting site.
Stay tuned...
P.S. -- Who'da thunk it would be so difficult?!?

Just in case others are interested in third-party hosting sites, here are the two that have been recommended so far (in order of the number of likes each one got). Both are free: nickpic.host/ (sponsored by ProBoards) village.photos/

Okay, I'm done testing and have deleted my posts as well as others that weren't constructive. No offense, of course, as I got a good laugh out of it. LOL I'm just keeping the tutorial thread clean. Anywho, after discussing the matter with ProBoards support, the final verdict is that we'll need to use a third-party hosting site. I've been checking out the two linked to above and think the first one is probably the best option. However, I would need to create an account an actually use it to confirm that. My only concern with it is that it is a donation only site. I believe the person who owns it is also one of the ProBoards' owners. Whoever Nick is, he's the one who's been paying for it. What started out to cost about $85/mo now costs him triple that since they now host over 19 million images. If Nick is a ProBoards owner, I'm sure the hosting site won't suddenly disappear. So far in 2019, $155 have been donated to the site, so I will be keeping my eye on that number throughout the year to see if at least most of Nick's expenses are being covered. Anywho, by using a third-party hosting site, I don't think the above instructions need any editing other than replacing the "Photobucket" reference with whichever hosting site I choose to use (most likely NickPic). I'll figure that out once I create an account and start posting images here.
Just give me a few days or so to get to that point because I have other more pressing matters to tend to at the moment. The first being FOOD! Dennys-on-Demand, here I come! LOL

About Photobucket, I just saw that they do still have free accounts with a 2.5Gb storage limit. I was just closing a bunch of tabs and came across this one: photobucket.com/storage-changes/

I got a response back from eCrater about pulling our product images from their site. It's all good as long as it links back to one's listing or shop.
