While searching for advertising I found Purpleiris' post - REFERENCE: Places to Market Your Stores & Products Feb 23, 2014 at 9:30am No need to link to it unless someone wants to see the long list of free advertising, but I did notice there were only two references for PAID advertising, neither of which I would have ever used because me being such a small time seller. I mention paid advertising because no one ever talks or writes about it. So, I just wonder if anyone has ever considered eCOMMERCEBYTES Classifieds. For all those who receive email notifications from Ina Steiner's EcommerceBytes-News Flash, has anyone ever scrolled down to the section for EcommerceBytes Classifieds and checked it out. If not, I think for many sellers, it's worth looking into. Quoting from the FAQ page, "You can sell individual items and choose to include a PayPal button in the ad, or you can advertise your auctions, Web site and storefronts!" "You can advertise individual items in your AuctionBytes Classifieds ad. You can also promote any of your selling venues - such as auctions, storefronts, brick & mortar stores or Web sites. Use a classified ad to promote your business, service or sell individual items." "All AuctionBytes Classified ads have counters, so that you can see how many people have viewed your listing" "You can change your ad as often as you'd like. Change the description, upload a new image, change contact information or even change category!" I can see how this might work to sell unique individual items (upper price range) and change it every week or month or sooner if item sells. There is so much more. Everyone should check it out at EcommerceBytes Classifieds FAQ Check some of the other advertisers in categories similar to what you sell. Some have thousands of visits. And, it's only $25.00 for a one year ad. That's probably better than a webstore at you know where for twenty-five per month.

That's not a bad price. I'll definitely have to check it out. Thanks for mentioning it! I'll be sure to add it to the list on the References board later. Right now, it's two hours passed my bed time, so I'm heading to beddy-bye! Oh, and thanks for reminding me of the monumental task of going through those lists to make sure links are current and working and then combining them all into one list. That's way down the road at this point. LOL

I always glance at that section and very often see familiar sellers names. I can only guess that the sellers that I recognize must have been on Bonanza but am not sure. I just don't know why else the names would ring a bell.
I've thought about Ina's site for advertising, but then decided against it. I figure it's a very large percent of sellers that read it. I don't know how many buyers subscribe to it.

I realize that eCommerceBytes main advertisers are large retailers and they pay big bucks for banner ads, but for roughly fifty cents per week, I think small sellers can benefit from a classified ad. Most readers of this site are retailers, but retailers are also buyers, and with 600,000 monthly unique visitors and six million monthly page views, there has to be some buyers in the mix. Keno, I looked through your store and think you have items that can appeal to retailers as well as buyers. And I believe many other members also fall into this category. But, of course it takes views just like any other site. An example of what looks like a worthwhile type of ad is Example Ad and there are others with decent views also. Since these ads are for one year, be sure to look at the expiration date and number of views. For example, the ad I linked to expires in July, 2015, which shows 1468 views in less than 3 months. I know if I was still selling online and shipping items, I would be more than willing to give it a try. And to make everyone aware, I have nothing to gain from promoting eCommerceBytes classified ads. I just think it is a very cheap means of getting additional exposure for anyone's merchandise.

I have checked that out, too. I haven't gotten all my cats in a row yet, and then I will start concentrating on Pinterest and these other advertising venues.

Once I'm ready, I will be devoting more thought, time and effort to my marketing campaign. That's one thing I failed to do when I first started selling on Bonz. I paid a number of peeps to advertise for me, though (mainly Tweeters), but I feel I'd do a better, more thorough job of it myself. So, info like what is being shared here is great! Thanks! Keep it coming!

One thing I noticed, if anyone decides to give it a try, I would definitely suggest a picture that can grab attention. If you keep refreshing the eCommerceBytes page, you can see the 'Featured Item' change and get an idea of what I think can make a difference. Some pics are small, some do not get your attention, etc. Here's an example of what and where I'm talking about.

I was looking at the various ads on the Classifieds page and noticed that not many use actual pictures of their products or services. I looked at several categories and, for the most part, they either used their logo, banner, avatar or a picture of themselves. Several are difficult to make out in a thumbnail sized image, including some where a product image was used. So, my advice to those considering this option is to make sure you use an image that stands out and can be seen clearly. It should represent what your business is about and a simple avatar or nondescript logo (like mine) won't cut it. While my logo might be pretty (at least to me, anyway LOL), it doesn't say "click me because I got something for ya." It's just pretty page art -- at least in a classified ad setting. A classified ad image needs to scream IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE, THEN CLICK ME BECAUSE YOU CAN FIND ME HERE! LOL Even if you don't have any experience with creating graphics, just be sure to pick out one of your finest items that will appeal to the largest audience. You could even crop it to make it look like a logo of sorts. Here are some examples: On the fourth one, you could add some text to describe what it is or what you sell (ie, Homemade Lotion, Natural Remedies, Natural Necessities, etc.). Just be sure it's legible in a small thumbnail image: Or you could take a few or more of your products and make an arrangement like so: All of the above images are 150x150 pixels, yet you can still see what's in the image and, if somebody likes what they see, they'll be sure to click on it to see if they can buy it.

Here is a site that we can advertise on but it is different from what has been talked about here and is a classified site. It used to be free to put our listing URL into the actual ad. Now if we want to do that I believe it cost $10 a year (still not bad). I last used it when it was free. I had placed a classified ad for two listings I had on Bonanza. I really did not think those listings would do anything at the time....I just did it because it was free. One of the ads was for a handbag and a matching wallet. The person emailed me directly from my ad and I told them they could go to Bonanza to make the purchase. Mind you, they had already been to the listing on Bonanza prior to emailing me but I think they wanted to just speak to me first. It is www.usfreeads.comI'm planning to pay the $10 once I get more stuff listed at my site. Heck, maybe I'll bite the bullet and do it before that once I get a little extra money. These are ways where we can step out a little I think from the same old same old when trying to get our stuff seen. Thanks for sharing the info Sheeny.
