I'm in the process of photographing all of my aunt's stuff and came across a few receipts inside boxes showing her purchase of those items. She gave me receipts for a lot of other stuff, but with the stack of receipts and certificates of authenticity she had in a ziploc bag. So, it got me to wondering, do customers want those original receipts? Personally, I would keep my receipts for myself. However, if a customer wants it, I could give them a copy. Is it really necessary or common among collectors? The collectibles in question are the Precious Moments, Cherished Teddies Santa's Express collection, Hallmark ornaments, and Danbury Mint collectors plates (mostly Hummel). Thanks in advance for any input!

I do not think they'd want the receipts to tell you the truth. The certificate of authenticity, yes.
I've never gotten a question from a buyer asking if I had a receipt and I do not feel that by not having it has ever swayed a decision to make the purchase.

Now if it was for a coach bag for the receipt to help show authenticity that would be another story.

Thanks, Sharon. I didn't think it was necessary -- except in the case of a Coach or other type of designer bag, of course. I'll just keep them on file as I don't think my aunt wants or needs them. Speaking of bags, my mother finally gave me the receipt for the brand new Coach purse and wallet she wants to sell, but now I don't know what I did with it. LOL I know it's somewhere as I recently saw it when doing the massive filing project, so it's not lost -- it's just hiding. LOL

I hope that you are able to find the receipt since I'm sure it would be a good sale for you...

It's really not that expensive of a purse as far as Coach goes, but it's still a couple hundred dollars. LOL I might have put it inside the purse. Wherever it's at, I just have to look for it, but I'm focused on my aunt's stuff for now.
