I've been reading a lot of stories recently about how the USPS is taking forever to get packages delivered -- even Priority packages. While I've noticed it taking on average a day longer than usual, I now have my own story about it taking much too long -- even for the more expensive Priority service.
I sent out a Priority package first thing Monday and it took a normal amount of time to get processed through and out of Houston. From there, it took TWO days to get to its destination state in the wee hours. By 9:15a this morning, it was in the town where my customer lives; yet, the USPS is saying that the updated delivery date is tomorrow.
Okay, first of all, why did it take TWO days to get to the destination state? Where did it stop in between there and Houston because it doesn't take an airplane two days to get to the East Coast? If it did make stops along the way, why wasn't a Priority package scanned at each point?
Second of all, if it arrived at the post office responsible for delivering it to the customer before the trucks went out this morning, why wouldn't it be delivered today instead of tomorrow? I'm sure they wait for deliveries from the local distribution center to sort through that mail and get it on the trucks for that day's deliveries.
Our government is really killing our postal service! They've been forced to close down key distribution centers earlier this year and now they can't even deliver when they say they'll deliver. It used to be that they'd arrive on time or even before the promised amount of time. So, we're basically paying higher rates for poor quality service.
I sure wish there was a way to put a stop to the government requiring the post office to pay for retirement funds 75 years in advance. That's absolutely unheard of! I truly believe the only reason they're requiring it is so they can dip their hands into funds that they're not even supposed to be dipping their hands into -- kind of like the gold reserves for even other countries that those countries are being told they cannot have until 2020!
Let's see just how much of those funds will actually be available for those retirement plans 75 years from now! There may not be anything left for those retirees and they'll be told that they cannot have their retirement funds for another 75 years! Our government is out of control and they're going to take us all down with them!
