I'm setting up which countries I'll ship to for my new store. I've already got Australia, Canada and the UK selected for international shipments, but am wondering what other countries are good to ship to. Thanks!

Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Japan
I think most US shippers are more careful with France, Italy and perhaps Spain. Always use Priority Mail with tracking. I think USPS has improved their international tracking and it is available even with the flat rate envelopes for $23.50

Cool...thanks, Digger. Is Germany not a good country to ship to? I do remember about France and Italy being problematic, but I can't remember about Germany.

LOL thanks. One more question...I'm looking at the International Shipping Table on the USPS site and it says that Priority Int'l Package pricing starts at $29.25! For items that I ship First-Class domestically, I can't see making international customers pay significantly higher prices, but sending them Registered Mail would be cheaper, right? I'll have to double check what UPS's prices are to the various countries because the USPS is getting ridiculous both domestically and internationally. We can't even ship First-Class Mail International with insurance anymore, so we're forced to ship it Priority at the ridiculously high prices. Anywho, back to setting things up...thanks again! ETA: Just noticed that Registered Mail only covers losses up to $45.59, so my higher end items would definitely have to go Priority.

My rule of thumb is that I ship to countries that the insurers will insure...check the Shipsurance.com website as an example.

For shipping 'normal size' books to other countries I always use a USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Padded Envelope. You can order the free padded envelopes online at usps.com. If you use the USPS Click 'n Ship for Business software to make your shipping label, you receive a small discount on the shipping amount. When it comes to large size books and books over 4 pounds, then we have to pay up the much higher standard Priority Mail International prices. Large books to Australia often have a ship cost of $45 to $55. I use u-pic.com for discounted shipping insurance.

digger Yeah, all of the countries I'm shipping to have a max weight of 4 lbs on First-Class, but First-Class Registered for those items is cheaper than shipping Priority. Although, for items worth more than the $45, I'd have to ship those Priority. Thanks for the other suggestion on shipping insurance. I need to check those out so maybe I can ship FC insured cheaper. The way 1&1 has their shipping set up, which is NOT integrated calculated shipping like I was led to believe it was, I'm having to create all of the shipping profiles for the various package types, adding their shipping methods, and then entering the cost for each zone I ship to. When I called to ask them about the calculated shipping, I was told they're putting a new package out tomorrow that has that option. I was pretty PO'd to say the least because I thought I had already paid for the service he was talking about. So, I'll have to look at how much more the package I want is. If it's too much, I'm just going to have to stick to these stupid rate tables. Anywho, back to it...thanks again!
