First, let me say that I haven't read up on this, yet, so I have no idea what the details are or if this is a permanent thing or what. After reading what I have read on eCrater's forums about it, I feel I should just forget these marketplaces and solely focus on my new shop.
Apparently, Google Shopping is now giving precedence to sellers who offer customers the option to checkout via Google's payment system (whatever it's called these days). Actually, if I'm reading it right, Google is placing a 'Google Buy' button (or something like that) on GS. Only those who've signed up (and most likely paid) for it can have their items bought that way directly on GS.
I was actually doing some search tests a week or so ago and was wondering why I was only seeing my Etsy listings. I did find one EC listing, but it was buried in the lumped listings. I wasn't even seeing my EC shop or eCrater as a filtering option like I usually do. Now I'm reading this. I didn't see any buy buttons, though, so I'm not sure when they started implementing this (if they have).
I'll have to look into later. At this point, I'm going to concentrate on my PC site and getting my Access database setup. I haven't used Access in decades, so I'm having to relearn it. In the process, I'm learning that I may be able to keep track of both my inventory and sales on Access. If that's the case, then I can just forget about QuickBooks and get a newer version of Quicken Home & Business.
The thing is that GS and EC's marketplace have been the biggest producer of traffic and sales for my EC shop. So, if GS is really doing this, then I have been wasting my time entering flat rates for my EC listings so customers are being charged commercial rates rather than retail rates.
I was doing that because my listings from both shops were being displayed in GS (now apparently only my Etsy listings) and my EC listings were priced higher with the retail shipping rates. Since I've been trying to build up my EC shop over my Etsy shop, it was something that I needed to do. However, if I'm going to close my Etsy shop, anyway, then what's the point? Now GS would seem to be making it even less important.
Anywho, if anyone knows anymore about it, please do share. I need to stay focused on things that have nothing to do with my marketplace shops.
