The automatic signature will be displayed at the end of each of your posts as well as any Private Messages (PMs) you send. You can add text, clickable links, and/or images and even use BBCode to create the signature. So, basically, whatever you can create in a post (ie, bullets, tables, images, links, general formatting, etc.) can be displayed in your signature.
Of course, there is a character limit to ensure signatures are kept to a reasonable size. I'm not sure exactly what that limit is, but it's around 470 (if not exactly 470) as that's how many I have in my signature and I've used most if not all of the space. NOTE: It counts BBCode characters as well as regular text.
Mine, for example, was created with a two-column, one row table (using the table icon in the WYSIWYG editor) so I could have text on the left and my banner on the right. The brown text you see are clickable links. I would have linked my banner to my store, but I ran out of room. LOL
If including an image, it will have to be hosted elsewhere online (ie, Photobucket, Picasa, etc.). Just be sure to have it sized correctly prior to linking to it. I'm not sure if it automatically keeps it within a certain size limit, but please be sure to keep yours to a reasonable size, using mine as a good example. If you need instructions for inserting images, please refer to How to Post Images in Forum Posts.
Of course, if you need help, just let us know.
Creating an Automatic Signature
HINT: If you're not familiar with BBCode and want more than a plain Jane siggie, the easiest way to create your signature is to open a Create Thread post and use the WYSIWYG editor. Once you're done creating it, click the BBCode tab at the bottom of the posting area to get to the code. Select all of the code, copy it, and then paste it to the Signature dialog box.
You may need to make adjustments after saving it in your profile, so just check it in an existing post you created. Once you have it the way you want it, then close the Create Thread window. If you accidentally create a thread with your signature, please be sure to delete it using the Post Options icon at the top right of the Edit Post area.
