Creating a Twitter Database, step by step, for manual or automated tweeting.
Please don't hurt my feelings with comments like "Oh, That's too much! I can't read all that!"
If this is something you are committed to learning, you can do it!
Would you like to boost your placement on the internet for your products? This tutorial will help you to build a database that you can maintain and use to manually or automatically tweet your items. There are several programs that are free that you can use to manually paste your tweets in and schedule them. But the best option is to use a program like Tweetadder that you load your database into and it tweets automatically for you. In this tutorial, I'm going to teach you how to begin building a database so that you can free up your time to do other things once it's been created.
I will cover more later on, but wanted to do the basics here with graphics. I apologize for the length, but the steps are important to detail and explain. Once you do a few, you'll get the knack of it and it will be much easier than it seems.
These instructions will include adding an image to each tweet so that those who are actually viewing your tweets can see what you're promoting. The secondary benefit to this is that your associated images will show up in Google Images and associate directly to your listing, as well as boost your listings in Google Organic and Google Product Search..
To do this, you need two programs on your computer. One is NOTEPAD, and the other is an Image or picture library where you would save your pictures to. (After you create your tweets, you can always delete the images from your computer files).
This tutorial will be written with generic listings in mind, and no site in particular, on a Windows computer using a Chrome Browser. I don't own a MAC, so I can't advise if the process is the same or not. Some sites will automatically include an image or a message. Scrap all of that. You will want to create a tweet that is informative, rich in keywords and will give you the most bang for your buck. Lets begin.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 1: The first thing you want to do is open up a Notepad page. You can access Notepad through your start key in the lower left corner, going into ALL PROGRAMS and then finding it under Accessories. Do not use Microsoft Word or Word pad, it must be NOTEPAD. Once you open the document, name it and save it to your DESKTOP. You will want to be creating individual datasheets with approximately 100 tweets on each one. You can name your sheet similar to Twitter List 1, Twitter List 2, etc. Now, open your first list... this is where you are going to begin creating and pasting your tweets to. Then, open your Twitter Home page in one tab, and your store in another.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 2: Start with the first listing you want to create a tweet for. Open the listing so you are on the listing page, not on a category page. Copy your title.
(You'll see the title below highlighted in blue.)
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 3: Right click on your main image and Save Image As (This will open your image library, and here, you want paste the title into the bar on the bottom, then Save.)
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 4: Paste that same title onto your notepad. Now, Go to your Twitter page. Paste the title into the tweet box, click the space key (to leave a space between your title and your url which you will paste after it in the next step) then click on the camera icon. When that opens, click on your image to insert.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 5: Go to your listing page and copy the url. (URL is highlighted in blue in the image below.)
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 6: Paste this behind your title on your Notepad, and then in your Tweetbox, remembering to have a space between the title and the url.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 7: Go back to Twitter. Use the slide bar to move down below the end of your url. Skip a space, and then look at the character count next to your Tweet button. You'll notice in this example, there are 25 spaces left where you can add more keywords that will add interest, and will separate your links in the finished tweet.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 8: This image shows where I have added some keywords to the end of the tweet. Copy those keywords and add them to your notepad, behind your title and url. then go back to Twitter and click on the Tweet Button.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Step 9: Your finished tweet has now been sent.
Now, look at the tweet column. Your tweet should be the first one showing. Click on View Photo and you will see your image with the tweet.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In this next step, you are going to be shortening your links so that they sit on your notepad in single lines.
This particular tweet will show on your notepad with the full length urls, like so:
Vintage Little Indian Boy Shot Glass Set of 4 1950's in original box www.momspenniesfromheaven.com/store.php?seller=momspennies%20&Tsearch=%20Vintage%20Little%20Indian%20Boy%20Shot%20Glass%20Se&pd=6462426#.Uv4CCvldUZw … Rare Novelty Set! pic.twitter.com/RoNrZX8OyR
We need to shorten those links so that your datasheet is full of one line tweets.
Step 10: Twitter will give you the shortened links. To capture them, simply right click over the first link (your long url) and Copy Link Address. Then go to your datasheet and CAREFULLY paste it over top of the long url (highlight the long url and then click paste.) Don't miss any of the characters. Be sure your space integrity is still intact. Now do the same with the Image link, (It will start with pic.twitter.com) Paste the shortened url over the pic.twitter link.
Your finished tweet will have changed from this:
Vintage Little Indian Boy Shot Glass Set of 4 1950's in original box www.momspenniesfromheaven.com/store.php?seller=momspennies%20&Tsearch=%20Vintage%20Little%20Indian%20Boy%20Shot%20Glass%20Se&pd=6462426#.Uv4CCvldUZw … Rare Novelty Set! pic.twitter.com/RoNrZX8OyR

You can test your tweet by clicking on each of the links and seeing where they go on Twitter.
If they don't go to your listing (the first link) or to an individual twitter page or image (the second link) you did something wrong.
If at anytime you lose your tweet, you can gain access to it again by clicking on your Twitter id above the tweet box. That will take you to the page where you can see all of your tweets.
Continue doing this with all your items in your store. Repeat steps 2-9 to continue building your database, one tweet at a time. Remember to save each time you finish a new tweet on your notepad. It's miserable to have to go back and redo everything if you accidentally lose it.
And that is how you build a database, one tweet at a time.
This database will have to be maintained. You want to be sure to remove any tweets associated to items that have sold. In addition, you will continue adding new products to it after you list them.
In my database, I have a mix of product tweets, special interest tweets and quotes, as well as some music video's and personal tweets. You can tweet up to 1000 items a day. So I try to keep my lists at around 100 tweets each. It helps me guesstimate how many tweets I am loading into my automated tweeter.
I can load 1000 tweets into my Tweetadder program in less than 3 minutes.
Please don't hurt my feelings with comments like "Oh, That's too much! I can't read all that!"
