Did you know that you can quickly and easily link to a single post in a thread? Whether you wish to link to a post in the same thread you're on or a completely different thread, you can link to it and have it open in a new tab when a user clicks on it.
This is particularly useful when there's a post on the References board that you'd like to discuss or ask a question about since they're not allowed on that board. You can also use this feature instead of the Quote button if you want to quote something someone said in the same or different thread and think it's too long to include as a whole quote.
It really is very quick and easy to do, using the Post Options icon at the top right of the message area of the post you wish to link to. If you click on that, you'll see the option to Link to Post.
Once you click on the Link to Post option, a dialog box will pop up with two URL options for you to choose from. If you copy the URL in the first box, it will include the entire thread and jump to the post you wish to link to. If you use the other URL, it will only show the post you're linking to.
To copy the URL of your choice, simply highlight the whole the URL and hit the key combination Ctrl-C (copy). Then, place the cursor in the message area of your new post/thread where you wish to paste it and hit Ctrl-V (paste).
Voila! You have just linked to a post. Click the links below to see how each option works. Of course, if you have questions, please feel free to post them below.
