Hopefully it all goes as planned. It would be good for us kind of sellers.
I noticed that he said "summer 2013." lol. He meant to say summer 2014. I heard this on the UTube through the link that you left.
One thing very interesting was where he talked about sites of authority (where they have good info and knowledge) that specialize on something like say medical for example. I'm thinking folks that specialize in certain categories and have knowledge to share could gain from this..........as long as everything goes as planned with Google.
So what do you think about the updates, Marianna?

Well, that was interesting. I especially liked what he had to say about ebay slipping in the rankings. Maybe some 'little people' will stand a better chance of being seen now.
I also noted what he said about traffic increasing as of Monday the 19th. In a post a week or two ago I mentioned that my numbers started taking a nose dive around the first of May. Monday they started moving back up and on Tuesday I had an all time high. Today is looking good also but I won't know the final numbers until later. (I hope I didn't just jinx it).
Thanks for posting this info moms. It gives us hope!

I hope it turns out to be a good thing. I don't use analytics like some of you do. I invest that time in other ways trying to move traffic to my store. I don't really care where it comes from because I'm not trying to manipulate those views to increase traffic from one source over another. I also don't spend alot of time analyzing SEO anymore like I used to. Since it seems to be constantly effected by the changes Google Makes. I do the best I can to keep listing and keep that circle in motion. What I don't have a firm grip on is their comments about Spammy Sites. What is considered a Spammy site and what type of promotion? I need examples laid before me so I can be sure I am not using this practice. I don't think i am, but one never knows. It's all a matter of interpretation. I did notice a few comments on the blog about activity increasing for some posters after the update. I've been pretty dead for the past week. So I'm waiting for the rush to begin too. Maybe after everyone returns from the beach....

Well, I read everything at all of the links and a lot of it reads like Greek to me and I'm one who usually understands this stuff. LOL However, I do get that eBay is suffering due to its violating Google policies regarding good practice in SEO, which I think they deserve. How it affects smaller business is still unclear, particularly since half of responders are saying they see no change, while the other half is saying they've seen a significant increase in traffic.
Personally, I don't see search working for small business since it apparently still favors large businesses that don't violate Google policies (ie, Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc.). So, I can only hope that Google will get back to playing fair for ALL business, big and small. There are a LOT of people relying on their small business for income and many are talking about having to get a job. Too bad I don't have that option.

I had mentioned above that my numbers had improved and that I hoped I didn't jinx them by making that statement.
It appears that's exactly what I did.
My numbers have flat-lined again. Yesterday, I had 5 visits (on over 1600 items). Of those, 2 were google organic and 1 was google shopping. The others were pinterest. What concerns me is that the google hits didn't come in until late last night.
Also of concern is I checked google webmaster tools/stats and it shows my site hasn't been crawled since May 21st. I put in a message to Presto to see if they could offer some advise but haven't heard back yet.
Also.... today's analytics shows a big goose egg. Not a single visit as of yet and I'm usually in or close to double digits by this time of day.

My eCrater visits seem to be rising after a drop in early May. Not sure why.
