Nicole, I have to use OpenOffice for my freebie word and spreadsheet programs. I just couldn't afford to buy the new MS Office after getting a new computer, back up drive and a new printer since the newer windows wouldn't work with my programs and computer. A big hit in the pocket.

I just moved these posts to their own thread since the References board is only for actual references. I already deleted one post from the Excel Guide thread this morning, which I hate doing. Now that I see two more posts there, I think I'll just start moving them to their own threads rather than deleting them. @catcop...I should put the link to Open Office on that thread for those who don't have Microsoft Office and can't afford to buy it. My now not-so-new laptop actually came with Word and Excel Starter editions, but they lack some of the more advanced features (and even some basic ones like the option to freeze panes). I have the full edition of Office 2000 on disk and know there's a way to have both versions on the same computer without causing problems. I just haven't gotten around to doing that, yet, but I think I shall do it sometime tonight since I'm not able to stay on the computer for very long at the moment and I really need the full version while I rework my spreadsheets. Plus, I plan to use PowerPoint to create a presentation that I can convert into a video with music. I'm just more familiar with doing presentations than using the movie maker software. @jenun...No problemo! I'm actually going to be using that thread as the sample for creating multiple tabs within a post using the new plugin. That way all of the links needed for the guide are available and organized in one place. I'm also going to be doing that for the SEO tutorial I have planned as well as the thread listing the places to advertise. Regarding the list of places to advertise, I've managed to remove all of the duplicates on my spreadsheet, but I'm still going through them all to see which are still available and make notes of any important specifics (ie, free, upgrade cost, affiliate programs, and whether they're classifieds, directory or a URL submission site). There are several, so far, that are no longer available, so the list definitely needs updating as it's probably at least five years old. The thing is that there are still around 375 listed, so it will take a bit of time to get through.

Just letting you know that I was able to apply the new Tabs plugin feature to the Excel Beginners Guide on the References board. I believe I'm done with the first three tabs, but am still working on the last three, which I'll get to later in the week. Just let me know what you think of the way it's set up.

I haven't seen MS Works on any of the new computers our family has gotten. I do miss having that suite, though, because it had a cool calendar and address book program. I used to use it when I managed my best friend's hair salon throughout the 90s to keep a database of his customers and for his appointment schedule. It also had a place to keep a task list that I made use of a lot.
Come to think of it, I might have that on disk, but it would be super old, I'm sure, and I doubt it would work on a 64-bit laptop with Vista. It might work on my Windows 7 Ultimate laptop, though. I'll have to check. Since I'll be submitting a lot of articles and eventually doing a newsletter to subscribers, I'd need something to schedule my submissions.
