I have a dozen or so vintage Beanie Babies that I was thinking of selling -- I'm undecided at the moment. They may just end up in the bag for charity. LOL However, there's at least one that might be one of those rare collectibles (Kicks, the green soccer bear). I have to check his tag because I can't remember if he has the errors.
So, if I do sell them, which category would be best to list them under -- collectibles or toys? I looked on Etsy and the many listed there are split between both categories. Since I have such a small selection of toys, I thought I'd put them under that category just to give it a little more meat and hopefully draw attention to the other toys. What do you think?

I think it would be best to list them as collectibles. I think "toys" need to meet a lot of new safety guidelines these days.
On the other hand, is there a category at Etsy for collectibles with all of the recent changes? It was a big discussion recently of sellers with doll house furniture and collectible dolls.

I have a collectible doll listed on Etsy, so you made me go look at what category it's under. I can't remember if I had to change it when I found out about the new categories, but it's under Art & Collectibles > Dolls & Miniatures > Art Dolls. There's also a Dollhouses sub-category under Dolls & Miniatures. However, there's an Art & Collectibles > Collectibles category, but nothing under Collectibles for me to categorize the Beanies in. That may be why there are so many listed under Toys now. I know I, for one, wouldn't want to have an incomplete category for any of my items. Although, there's a Stuffed Animals & Plushies category under Toys, but the sub-categories under that consist of only a few types of animals. I can't remember what all of the Beanies are, so I'm not sure if they'd all fit. Even so, Plushies is more descriptive than plain "Collectibles" is. Considering most views come from Etsy search, can you imagine customers having to weed through thousands of products just to find yours? I think I'd rather take my chances under Toys where the search can be narrowed down. So, thank you for bringing up Etsy's categories because it made me look and helped me decide.

I have had quite a few listed in my Bonanza store. I got them from a thrift store about a year ago for .75 each. I sell one every few months, so there is a demand!

@bellavistaboutique...That's good to know. I had a few dozen others I could have listed, but gave them away due to their lack of value. The only ones I kept were the one that were worth at least $5.
